Task 1A

One of the 1st tasks is to look at your C.V. I’ve looked at other peoples profile and have seen that some people have written them in an essay for and some people have uploaded their current C.V. I thought that it would be helpful to write mine out in Essay form. By doing this I will hopefully see what information I actually need to include.
I have uploaded my current C.V and also my C.V. as an essay. Your thoughts would be gratefully received.

Importance of my C.V-
With the job that I have at the moment with Carnival Cruise Lines my C.V was not even looked at. I went to the audition and danced the whole day. It was not till we were told that we had the job that we had to hand them in. However with jobs that my agency have put me forward for previous to that I have had to send in my C.V before getting considered for an audition.
I think it totally depends on what you are putting yourself forward for. One thing I have learned is never to lie on your C.V I always see a lot of girls that turn up to an audition with a height restriction and they don’t meet it. By changing it on your C.V doesn’t mean that you become that height. I wouldn’t want to waste any ones time.
However I would change my C.V depending on what job I was going for. I.E if I was to audition for a dancer on a catwalk I would put all my measurements and sizes down. Simply due to the fact that this is something they most definitely would be looking at. Where as if I was auditioning for a Pantomime at Christmas I wouldn’t include all my measurements and sizes as that generally isn’t something they are basing the job on.
While at college I always worried about having professional jobs on my C.V. Now I understand that it really isn't important. What casting director wouldn't want to take on a freshly trained dancer who is excited to gain there 1st job and give it all they have? Young, technical and enthusiastic!

Whether your C.V is used or not it is very important. It needs to look presentable, organised and I think simple is better. Any ways in which you think I can improve mine.......Please let me know.

  1. Kimberly a good start of what is deceptively a simple task, I am enjoying the debate going on about what makes a good CV. I can open the 'essay', or 'biography', but not the first address - also you might want to hyperlink these from your blog for accessibility. Interesting about the starting CV... probably a concern for many. Please get in touch so we can run down an induction about the course - might be tricky as you may not always be online, but try calling me on cruise ship line? Good to see you are looking at others blogs as well.
